Bandits are one of the creatures found in the game.
They are hostile human NPCs that appear as groups of survivors roaming the world. They will attack players on sight using melee weapons such as cleavers, nail bats, and other melee weapons.
Unlike Plague Doctors, Bandits do not use firearms and instead rely entirely on close-range combat. They may shout in Russian shortly before engaging the player.
When killed, Bandits can drop a wide variety of loot, including clothing, food, ammunition, and tools.
Location
Bandits can be found in towns, forests, and bandit outposts, usually roaming in groups.
Behavior
Bandits are fully aggressive and will attack players on sight. They attempt to close the distance quickly in order to engage in melee combat. If the target moves too far away, they return to their original location.
Notes
- Bandits have multiple visual variations, including different clothing, outfits, and hats.
- Like outfits, they have weapon variations and it's not confirmed yet if each weapon deals unique damage or just visual. (Need to be tested)
Tips
- Keep your distance if possible. Bandits are only dangerous at close range.
- Usually, they guard locations with loot, so despite being able to avoid them, most of times you will need to fight back if you want the loot.
- Their speaks in Russian can serve as an early warning before combat begins, meaning they spotted you.
- They typically operate in groups, which increases their threat level despite their relatively low individual durability. While each Bandit is easy to kill, multiple enemies attacking at once can overwhelm the player.
- Use terrain or obstacles to avoid being surrounded. Sometimes you can easily kill them with melee weapons from a higher elevation, such as furniture or a car.
- Since their loot pool is varied, farming Bandits can be a reliable way to obtain early-game resources. But at some point in the game, hunting them can become a waste of time and resources because their loot is no longer as useful.
- If you are fighting multiple bandits with the help of other players, try to divide their attention and avoid attacking the same Bandit, as you may accidentally hit your ally.
