Welcome to your new home, Comrade!

General

The Bunker serves as the player’s primary safe zone in MISERY, a reinforced underground refuge designed to withstand the chaos of the Exclusion Zone. Built from scavenged concrete, steel, and desperation, it’s where survivors retreat after brutal excursions into the wasteland. Within its dimly lit corridors, humming generators, and flickering lights, players can heal, rest, and manage their resources without the constant threat of anomalies or mutants. The Bunker’s claustrophobic atmosphere contrasts sharply with the hostile openness of the surface, offering a fragile sense of security that constantly reminds players how temporary safety can be. The maximum area of the bunker is 12x12x4 tiles.

Beyond being a shelter, the Bunker acts as the central hub for survival operations. Here, players store scavenged loot, craft essential supplies, repair weapons, and interact with other survivors. Each upgrade to the Bunker expands its functionality—improving storage capacity, unlocking new crafting benches, or enhancing defenses. It’s also where cooperative players regroup to plan expeditions, share resources, and recover from failed runs. As the game progresses, the Bunker evolves from a desperate hideout into a symbol of endurance—proof that, even in a world drowning in ruin, humanity’s instinct to rebuild still flickers underground.

Beginning

The bunker starts off with a 3-tile area, having 1 tile in height. Tiles being the measurement of a breakable, preexisting area of the bunker. One tile has two dimensions, being in the shape of a square. Due to the conflict between separating height with the walkable surface areas of the bunker, the tiles are not counted as being three-dimensional.

You spawn on the tile farthest away from the door up the stairs. In the corner in front and on the left of you there is the incinerator. To the right of it there's a garbage pile, cable, crafting bench and above it a shelf with 5 flashlights. On the third and final tile there are 3 more garbage piles, a generator in the corner and above it a splitter.

Entering the Zone

The first time you interact with the door up the staircase, a sequence will be initated where you have 60 seconds to gather as much loot in the house as you can. The house itself has the same layout every time, having a lower floor, upper floor and a basement. It is possible to find almost all loot in the game except for creature related items, guns, military related items, artifacts, mushrooms, busel detector, garbage, ash, furniture and any backpack with a larger carrying capacity than the tactical backpack. After 60 seconds has passed you have to be within 1 tile of the door, or else you die and lose anything you might have had in your inventory. If you were to die, it is recommended to start from new as you will only have half your health, 1/3 of your hunger and thirst and 3/10 of your insanity bar will be filled as opposed to insanity being 0 and food, drinks and health being 100.

Power Generation

In your bunker certain buildable items need power. As of right now, there are 5 power sources in the game.

Duration = seconds of run time from one unit of fuel for that source. Cost/min is calculated by cost/power generated per 1 unit of fuel. The cost is based off of the buying price in Sirzez.
Source Power/s Duration Cost/Power
Gasoline Generator 15 20s 0,034
Dwarf Generator 5 60s 0,15
Metal Wind Turbine 2 N/A N/A
Wind turbine 1 N/A N/A
Solar panel 5 N/A N/A

Powered Objects

Object Power req/s
Advanced Crafting Bench 10
Chemical Table 5
Gas Stove 2
Incinerator 10
Lamp 1
Ammo Crafting Station 7

Farming

Farming is a method of acquiring food by using seeds and fuel for the crop plot. Farming can only be done outside of the bunker. If you use the large crop plot, the same amount of fuel will be used if you plant 3 seeds and 1 seed. Therefore, it is optimal to have three seeds growing at the same time to utilize the fuel item fully.

Fuel

Human Poop and Ash are the only items in the game that can be used as fuel, but they both provide the same fuel value.

How to farm

Farming can be done in either the small crop plot or the large crop plot. By placing fuel in the "fuel" slot at the bottom and seeds in the "inventory" slot in the middle, you should be able to press "on" in the top left corner. This will put the current seeds into the "growing" slot, and display a percentage. When it hits 100%, you will get 3 of each vegetable (excluding cucumber, which only gives 2).

There are 4 types of seeds in the game - Cucumber Seed, Carrot Seed, Wheat (seed in- itself) and Tomato Seed. The Barman in Sirzez will buy the seeds and the vegetables, but currently there is no vendor selling them.
